Check Your Gift Card Refund Policy
Some gift cards may have restrictions on how they can be exchanged for cash, merchandise, or other return gifts. For example, some cards may have a time limit, refund, limited purchase, or limit customer in certain states. Before making any decisions about whether to return a gift card, first check its terms and conditions to get the exact return policy.
Exchange Sales For Gift Card
If you get a gift card but do not have time to buy something at the store, you can exchange it for something else. You can usually do this at the store’s customer service desk, or by contacting the customer service department by phone or email. Most retailers will allow you to exchange a gift card for another gift card, but with a higher value. This can be an effective way to get something you want by exchanging an unwanted gift card. However, some retailers may have a limited limit, such as requiring you to exchange a gift card for a sale of at least $ 25 or $ 50. You can also contact the gift card issuer and ask if they can exchange a low-cost gift card for a higher price.
Cash Exchange Card
If you have a gift card for more than $ 10, you can try to contact the store and explain why you want to change it for cash and why it would be easier to do so online.
Swap an eGift to get a Gift Card
When you receive an eGift card (digital version of a gift card sent from someone via email), you have a few options. You can use the card immediately to buy something, or wait until you have time. If you do not plan to use an eGift card immediately, you can change it to get a gift card that you can use later. Depending on the vendor, you may be able to change your eGift to receive a gift card sent to you via email or sent as a real postcard. Although some retailers may require you to wait until some time (such as 90 days) before using a gift card, such as Walmart.
Gift Cards Are Just Like Gift Cards
If you receive an e-gift card, be sure to redeem it before it expires. Most gift cards expire one year after issue, so if you do not use your own one during that time, it is as if the card has expired. Many gift cards serve as portable gift cards. You can buy them online or in the store to buy anything for sale at a card issuer.
When returning a product, always remember to follow the return policy of the gift card issuer. If the card issuer allows returns, then do so. If not, then ask for your equivalent of cash or a store credit card. If the gift card recipient is less likely to return a product than you would have paid for it, they may be more likely to do so if you follow their return policy.
